BIOGRAPHY

I hold a Ph.D degree in Sociology from CUNY Graduate Center with specialization in urban sociology and migration studies. My research has mainly encompassed the impacts of neighborhood redevelopment, gentrification, and cultural revalorization of urban living on ethnic and immigrant communities, identities, and lives in NYC. I analyze the various forms of gentrification process 鈥揷ommercial gentrification, tourism gentrification, "greenification",  and transnational gentrification鈥 and related displacement 鈥 physical, economic and symbolic 鈥 by utilizing primarily qualitative, ethnographic and visual approaches. My next research project tackles the issue of "agritainment", and the economic impacts of urban growth on urban-adjacent rural regions.
