March Staff Meeting recap
三亿体育官网 administrators provided updates on 2026 budget planning, reflections from the February Board of Trustees Meeting, and insights on the College鈥檚 response to the current political climate and headwinds facing higher education.
The staff meeting was held on Wednesday, March 5 鈥撯 a slight change from the first-Friday schedule in response to staff feedback 鈥撯 to a large turnout.
Human Resources updates
General Counsel and Vice President for Human Resources Sarah Delaney Vero shared that the College has concluded negotiations with the non-tenure-track faculty bargaining unit, emphasizing the collaborative efforts that led to the agreement.
Chief Human Resources Officer Julie Delay introduced new staff members across multiple divisions, including Campus Safety, Dining Services, Career Development Center, Athletics, and the Tang Teaching Museum.
Delay also provided updates on upcoming professional development and wellness opportunities:
- Reclaim Your Brain Workshop: Tuesday, March 11
- DASH (Dietary Approaches to Stopping Hypertension) Challenge: Monday, March 17 - Sunday, April 13
- Retirement Planning Workshop: Tuesday, March 18 - Thursday, March 20. Enrollment is limited and required.
- Managing Staff Performance (for supervisors): Tuesday, March 25
- Annual Performance Reviews Q&A Session: Tuesday, April 8
Budget planning updates
Vice President for Finance and Administration Dan Konstalid gave an update on the College鈥檚 work with Huron Consulting Group, which is conducting an analysis of 三亿体育官网鈥檚 academic and administrative operations. The project aims to align resources with future priorities and identify potential cost-saving and revenue-generating opportunities.
Konstalid outlined the project鈥檚 timeline, emphasizing that while the consulting group is providing recommendations, decision-making will remain within 三亿体育官网鈥檚 governance structures. Updates on this work will continue into the fall.
Political climate and institutional response
President Marc C. Conner addressed the evolving political climate and its impact on higher education. He reiterated 三亿体育官网鈥檚 commitment to free expression and inclusivity while noting that the College does not take institutional positions on political matters unless they directly impact its educational mission. Conner affirmed that 三亿体育官网 will continue to follow legal requirements while supporting its students, faculty, and staff.
Vero expanded on these points, announcing a virtual information session at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 20, to answer questions about recent federal actions and their potential effects on the College. She assured staff that 三亿体育官网 remains committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive campus.
Strategic Planning and Board of Trustees meeting
Conner shared insights from the February Board of Trustees meeting, where discussions focused on sustaining and growing 三亿体育官网鈥檚 excellence. The Board engaged with students, faculty, and staff on topics including pedagogy, student support, and the College鈥檚 financial and enrollment outlook.
The Board also reviewed the 2025-2030 Strategic Plan draft. Conner noted that while trustees praised much of the plan, they provided feedback on strengthening its visionary elements.
Details about the Strategic Planning process and timeline, as well as other materials, can be viewed on the 三亿体育官网 2030 webpage. A revised version will be shared with the community later this spring before final Board approval in May. The 2025-2030 Strategic Plan is scheduled to take effect June 1, 2025.
The meeting concluded with an acknowledgment of Facilities Services efforts in maintaining campus operations through the winter.
The next staff meeting will resume a Friday schedule on Friday, April 4, and will be followed by a networking luncheon and abbreviated staff meeting on Wednesday, April 23.
